Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu: "ASUU Strike Government Negotiating Team Incompetent and Incapable"

The Governor of Niger state, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has doubted the abilities of the negotiators from the side of the government to achieve any breakthrough in the ongoing dialogue with the lecturers.

Aliyu specifically described the negotiators as “incompetent and incapable” of resolving the logjam.

Addressing a continental meeting workshop on the 3rd regional centre of expertise, hosted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Abuja yesterday, the governor berated the government for choosing the wrong personnel, “who do not understand their mission or the mindset of the striking union, before accepting to represent the government’’.

According to him, the members of the team could easily be intimidated and or harassed by the striking lecturers and, in the process, be forced to sign agreements that they did not properly scrutinise.

He advised the government to change tactics if it wants to achieve any breakthrough in the ongoing negotiations.
