Seven Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps in Niger State Escape Death.
Seven anti-vandals men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Niger State Command escape death in a ghastly motor accident on their way back to Minna after arresting four suspected pipeline vandals at Kunna, Kafin-Koro in Paikoro Local Government Area.
The State Commandant of the Corp, Mr. Ikemefuna Donatus Izuka disclosed this while parading the suspect to newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Minna.
The suspected vandals are; Kenneth Chukwuma, Victor Iloh, Muhammad Umar and Abubakar Adze.
According to the commandant, the accident occurred after Paiko Town, when a Tanker Driver, who they believed was part of the syndicate of the arrested vandals tried to collide with their vehicle.
He stated that in an attempt to avoid the on-coming tanker, the Hilux bus conveying the suspects somersaulted while seven members of the corps sustained minor injuries and one of the suspects, Abubakar Adze was seriously injured.
Mr. Ikemefuna Donatus Izuka decried an increase of vandals activities in the state in recent times adding that the four suspects were arrested at the village while carrying out their operation.
Also arrested along with the pipeline vandals was a bus loaded with Jerry cans, 20 of which were already filled up with petroleum products.
He said, presently, one of the suspects, Abubakar Garba was now receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center, Bida, as a result of gunshot received from the anti-vandals squad while attempting to escape arrest at Farindoki area.
The Commandant, who lamented over the dubious act, appealed to parents to caution their wards against engaging in illegal trade.
Mr. Ikemefuna Donatus Izuka, while thanking other security agencies for their support, called on the state government to provide new vehicle to the command as the Hilux bus involved in the accident was beyond repair.
