Niger State Government Partners with India to Assemble Tricycles
Niger State Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Cooperatives, Alhaji Hassan Lawal Abdullahi has said that the present administration is partnering with the Indian Government in the area of tricycle assemblage technology.
Speaking to Journalists at a media roundtable in Minna, the Commissioner disclosed that the state government was seeking assistance from the Indian government to come to the state to establish a tricycle plant.
He stated that the need for the establishment of the tricycle plant was to enable the users of the product to have access to spare parts, adding that the experts who would be operating the plant would equally train some of the beneficiaries of Talba Keke NAPEP, in areas of servicing and maintenance.
On effort by the state government to assist exporters market their products outside the country, the Commissioner stated that a lot of measures have been put in place to actualize the promotion of trade and investment within and outside the country.
Some of these measures, according to him, include collaboration with the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for registration, certificating and packaging of products.
Others are the commissioning of Nigeria Export Promotion Council office in the state, and the planned One-Stop Investment House, to be constructed by the state government, where all marketing activities would be coordinated, as well as providing information to investors coming to the state.
Commenting on the activities of Micro-finance institutions in the state, the commissioner stated that the state government was carrying out auditing of all the existing micro-finance establishments in the state to ascertain their competencies.
