Mercedes-Benz Launches the E63 AMG [Photos]

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has launched its premium sedan E63 AMG after about a month and half since the launch of the E-Class.

The launch is part of Mercedes’ plans to enhance its product portfolio in India. The E63 AMG in the new avatar was unveiled at the Buddha International Circuit, India’s only Formula 1 track.

“The launch of the new E63 AMG further reiterates our promise of bringing fascinating cars to India,” Mercedes-Benz India managing director and chief executive officer Eberhard Kern said.

The launch of the E63 AMG would help the company improve its market share in the country, Mr Kern added.

“When all the new generation models like A, B, CLA and GLA are launched, we expect them to contribute around 40 per cent to our total volumes in India,” Mr Kern said, adding the company had received great response on the models which were launched earlier this year.

The E63 AMG comes with a 5.5-litre V8 engine, with a displacement of 5,461 cc.

Aston Martin has confirmed a technical partnership with Mercedes-AMG GmbH. A letter of intent has been signed and both parties are working towards signing definitive agreements before the end of the year.

This agreements are subject to applicable regulatory approvals. With this deal, the Aston Martin can access significant Mercedes-AMG GmbH and Mercedes-Benz Cars' resources, allowing the development of bespoke V8 powertrains and the use of certain components of electric/electronic (e/e) architecture.
