Niger State Government to Spend N1.5Billion for Completion of Erena Bridge
Over N1.5Billion has been earmarked by the Niger State Government for the construction and completion of Erena Bridge in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner of Tertiary Education, Dr. Mohammed Bashir Nuhu disclosed this while speaking at the sensitization campaign tour on government policies and programs at Bassa, Alawa, Guragbe and Kaki wards in Shiroro Local Government Area.
Dr. Mohammed Bashir Nuhu pointed out that the contractor handling the construction work of the bridge was too slow and government might have no other option than to revoke the contract.
The Commissioner stated that over N5Billion had been paid to subsidize hajj operation while N2Billion and N3Billion were paid for WAEC and NECO examinations as well as scholarship for students in higher institutions respectively.
On the youths, the Commissioner said the present administration had introduced the program titled Talba Youth Engagement Scheme in which over 600 youths were benefitting adding that plans were on to recruit more youths into the scheme.
Dr. Mohammed Bashir Nuhu urged the people of the area to be patient and support the present administration for them to enjoy dividends of democracy.
Also speaking during the tour, the Council Chairman, ASP Abdullahi Yerima (rtd) called on the people of the area to continue to lend their support and loyalty to the present administration in the state.
