Niger State Government Emphasis on Commitment to the Provision of Qualitative Education
The Commissioner, who expressed the readiness of his ministry to support any initiative that would promote the delivery of qualitative education in the schools, called for commitment of teachers to achieve the desired goals.
He explained that at present, the school enrollment in the state had shot up from about over 700,000 to 1.4 million pupils which required serious commitment of the teachers to meet the demand of the increased number of pupils.
Alhaji Danladi Umar Abdulhamid, who described challenges in the educational development as numerous, said the state government would be addressing them in accordance with their priority.
The Commissioner warned that government would not tolerate lukewarm attitude of teachers to their duties and responsibilities. He also directed that teachers, who were absent from the schools visited without reason, to report to the ministry headquarters for appropriate sanction.
Responding, the Principal of Day Secondary School, Maitumbi, Mr. Isaac Jiya enumerated some of the challenges facing the school to include lack of furniture and laboratory equipments among others.
